Techniques Email Construction - Session 1 Formatting and Subject Lines |
|
Preparation
There are some things you need to do before you start composing your emails.
Learning to write a good email is very unlikely to happen overnight. You need to practice writing emails. You can always send them to yourself and see if they stand out when they come into your inbox. You have to take an objective view of all the emails in your inbox and then decide if the subject line is strong enough to get you to open that email
Form an outline of your email by asking the following questions
The questions are designed to give you an outline of what your email needs to include. So let's try to fill this information out in a logical manner so we can use it to help us in composing our email. Let's look at each question in turn and write down the information that could be applicable to Vortex Marketing Group. (You could of course adapt this to any opportunity that you are promoting).
As you can see there is more to this than just writing a few words and hoping for the best. There is quite a bit of preparatory work to do before you even think of starting to compose your email. Doing this work before you start to write the email itself will help to keep you focused on the point, and help to stop you deviating from what you want your email to achieve. Having said all this it is time to start on the email with probably the most important item of your email and that is the Subject Line. |
